Dancetime Hire was established in 1970 as a small family business. Gordon Johnstone (one of the founding members of the Hire and Rental Association) started the business from the garage under the family home with 1 small dance floor and a few tables and chairs. Deliveries were made in the FJ and HD Holden in the early days. When required the box trailer had to be attached for those large deliveries.
In 1980 the business outgrew the home and was relocated to a small factory in Caringbah. Three moves later we are still in the same area with a 2000sq.m. factory supplying hire and event equipment up and down the eastern states of Australia.
Still a family concern with Gordon's son Robert (a founding member of International Special Events Society) now providing the leadership to further grow the business.
Soon the third generation, now working in the business will drive the business with new innovative ideas to service the hire industry
over the coming decades.
I worked with Dancetime Hire Services recently for a wedding at Vaucluse Yacht Club. The marquee was beautiful and clean, the lantern lights that they installed were able to be dimmed which adds so much to the atmosphere, and they went above and beyond to provide extra items that were in short supply to help us out with our clients request.
